COME AND SEE HOW WE USE OUR FREE TIME HERE IN GREENWICH
01 April 2009
Monday 6 - Saturday 18 April 2009
Two weeks of shows, workshops and free events taking place at Greenwich Theatre and around the borough, presented in partnership with Docklands Light Railway.
My name is GMT and I want to tell you and others how great Greenwich is and why I love spending my free time here. You may know Greenwich as one of the World Heritage sites. It sits on the southern bank of the Thames opposite the Isle of Dogs London's new financial district.
Greenwich has always felt like a small town even though it sits at the heart of London, England. We offer some of the most breath taking views over the city from the top of Greenwich parks hill.
Greenwich is a place where history meets the modern world and everyone here has time to enjoy a little bit of life away from the fast pace around it.
While your here you must visit the Royal Observatory, the home of the Meridian Line and our planetarium. But you don't have to stop there as that is only one of many museums and visitor attractions we have to offer. In fact we are bursting with things to do and see.
In the coming years Greenwich will see some big changes as it gets ready to welcome the world as a double Olympic site. But we have never been one to shy away from the worlds spot light. We welcomed in the new millennium with the building of the worlds largest tented structure known as the Millennium Dome. But you may know it better by it's new name the O2, one of the worlds largest in door live entertainment venues.
Away from those big names and bright lights down at the O2 Greenwich also have many unique shops situated around a host of markets in the centre of town. And if that's not enough then why not spend the evening with us and visit one of our many restaurants or you could make a night of it and stay to watch a play at our local theatre.
I'm sure what ever you chose to do when your here you will find yourself coming back time and time again.
